Follow below guide:

1. Visit office of the Registrar (Births & Deaths) near to your area and get the free birth certificate application form.

2. Fully filled application form duly signed by the applicant is then supposed to be submitted to concerned authorities.

3. Don’t forget to pay the application processing fee to cashier/clerk or computer operator. You can pay through treasury challan from TR 6. Please collect fee payment receipt after successful payment.

4. Birth certificate will now be issued within 7 days of the registration date. You can either collect it from respective office or else you can attach self-addressed envelope along with application form to get it delivered to your specified address.

In rural areas, you can register the birth details at Gram Panchayat Offices (GPOs). In rare cases if birth can’t be registered there then you can ask the concerned officers at GPO to provide the details of concerned department where birth has to be registered now. Or else you can directly visit Civil Surgeon cum District Registrar, Births and Deaths at District Level.

In urban areas, you can head over to nearest municipality office for registering the birth details.

Application fee and timelines
Rs. 2 is the standard fee for one copy of the birth certificate. Search fee for one year with be Rs. 1

If you register the birth within 20 days of the birth then you don’t need any assisting documents from government officials.

If registration is done after 20 days and before 30 days then applicant will have to pay Rs. 1 as late fee.

After 30 days and before 1 year, late fee will be Rs. 3 and applicant will need to produce written permission from district registrar and affidavit clearly stating the reason of late response towards registering details with the authority. Affidavit should be made before a notary public or Magistrate 1st Class.

Cases beyond 1 year will have to pay Rs. 5 late fee along with an order from Sub-Divisional Magistrate. They will need an affidavit made before Magistrate 1st Class giving reasons for non-registering the event.
